Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or half beef, half Italian sausage)
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or spaghetti sauce
- 9 lasagna noodles (regular or no-boil)
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, pepper, and dried Italian herbs (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook noodles if not using no-boil. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, brown the beef, drain fat, then stir in marinara sauce. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, salt, pepper, and a pinch of herbs.
- In a 9x13-inch baking dish, layer:
- ⅓ meat sauce
- 3 noodles
- ½ ricotta mixture
- ⅓ mozzarella Repeat layers, ending with sauce and mozzarella. Sprinkle Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
